GIF stands for graphics interchange format. Generally, a number of images are gathered into a single file to make an animated gif. If you look carefully at a GIF file, you will see that there are multiple images coming one by one to make it look like a video.<\/p>\n

However, GIFs don’t contain sound. They are usually quite small but they are not actually videos. A GIF is basically a bunch of images or frames that are kept in a single file.<\/p>\n

It is not necessary that you only use images in a series to make a GIF. You can also convert a video into a GIF as well. Usually, we find some funny cuts in a large video.<\/p>\n

These cuts can be easily converted into GIF using Photoshop. It is not quite different from making or editing a GIF using images. However, there are some slight differences.<\/p>\n

So, here are the steps that you need to follow to make or Photoshop edit animated GIF<\/strong> using a video file instead of images.<\/p>\n

Step 1: Importing the Video<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The first step for you would be to import a video in the Photoshop window. You can click on the file option above the window. There you will see the \u2018Import\u2019 button. Hover over the button and there will an option called \u2018Video Frames to Layers\u2019. Click on that option.<\/p>\n

Here you have to choose the starting and ending point of the gif. In other words, your video may be of 10 mins but you need only 10 secs, so you have to select which 10 seconds of the video you want. You can easily set the starting and the ending point once the pop-up window appears.<\/p>\n

Step 3: Adjusting the Time of Frames<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

It is actually similar to adjusting the time of a GIF created by images. Once you have uploaded the video file, you will see that it turned into a lot of small parts and each part is in a different frame.<\/p>\n
